About the role:

The HSE Supervisor will be responsible for the Health, Safety & Environmental for the Lonsdale and Hallam Manufacturing Sites.

HSE Responsibility:

To drive proactive HSE programs in order to ensure the safety of employees through the continuous improvement of OH&S standards and through good governance and compliance with HSE regulations and all statutory requirements in relation to Occupational Health, Safety & Environment.

To continually find ways to reduce the impact on the environment through the reduction of resource use (energy, water etc.) and the reduction of waste generation (food, components).

Key responsibilities:


  • Promote a positive HSE culture, raise HSE profile, competence and awareness by arranging relevant training and communicating the necessary information
  • Support the site to identify hazards and conduct risk assessment and advise on appropriate risk management techniques
  • Drive and monitor progress against business KPIs and targets, and support sites in meeting the HSE goals and targets
  • Implement and maintain regional policies, programs and procedures at site level
  • Lead Risk assessments and corresponding risk mitigation strategies
  • Establish, implement and maintain a site HSE management system in the form of documented policies and procedures
  • Participate / lead in incident investigations and review investigation findings for accuracy, identification of root causes and appropriate corrective / preventive actions
  • Plan and organize regular emergency exercises including joint exercises with external emergency services
  • Communicate and share lessons from HSE incidents that impact all company operations in a timely, thorough, and effective manner
  • Act as site representative and provide updates on biweekly regional HSE meetings
  • Act as the Secretariat to the site HSE Committee

Qualifications and skills:


  • Minimum Degree in Engineering, Safety, Health & Environmental Science or relevant discipline
  • Relevant 2 years work experience in HSE management, preferably with experience in Food / Pharmaceuticals, with knowledge / experience in food safety programs
  • Ability to manage change as directed by the company or legislation
  • Experienced in managing and coaching teams
  • Management / liaison with both staff and the insurance companies regarding claims
- knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Protection Laws & Regulations

  • Experienced with compliance audits and HSE management systems

Competencies Required

  • An excellent communicator in English (both oral and written) capable of conveying ideas and concepts, and making formal presentations
  • Ability to work independently and have little need for close management supervision and direction
  • Must possess strong organisational and technical skills, a real passion for their work, and driven to get the job done
  • Ability to persuade and influence others effectively
