Description

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, buying and sourcing new brands & sub-categories where relevant within their product category.


They have accountability for Category purchasing (eg:
price, assortment and quantities). They work closely with the supply chain team ensuring optimal inventory coverage implemented and sustained.

They possess extensive knowledge of the category as well as to be updated on the latest trends and available products to ensure long lasting working relationship with vendors.

They're also responsible for the pricing of their categories to ensure our product offer is at the right price compared to the domestic market, as well as maximising and maintaining buying profit margins.

Your new job includes

You will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Relationship management with vendors/suppliers including negotiating business terms
  • Provide reports as required on the category performance, challenges, future opportunities and action plan(s).
  • Constantly work to improve the team by thinking objectively, leading effectively and pursuing diligently.
  • Liaise with various internal stakeholders across Category Management, Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure optimal inventory coverage in our regional distribution center for all existing business needs
  • Manage brand strategies and integrate launches and promotions in line with brands
What you should bring along

  • Experience in planning, buying and reaching set targets for the category.
  • Previous experience in managing high volume business and dynamic sales teams
  • Previous experience in managing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work in a fast paced environment
  • Financial analysis skills and ability to develop, read and interpret financial reports
  • Able to lead, develop and mentor a team
  • Advanced MS Excel, and SAP/R3 (Retail) or similar ERP system
  • An interest and / or experience in the related categories (Perfume & Cosmetics / Liquor, Tobacco & Confectionery / Fashion & Accessories).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant work experience)
