About the role

Queensland Mental Health Benchmarking Unit (QMHBU) is a state-wide service hosted by Mental Health and Specialised Services and is located at The Park - Centre for Mental Health.

QMHBU facilitates state-wide benchmarking for extended treatment and residential inpatient mental health services - Community Care Units, Secure Mental Health Units and Step-up step-down Units.

The Team Leader is responsible for state-wide benchmarking activities.

The role is pivotal in the coordination of benchmarking rounds, maintaining partnerships across Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), accurate data collection and reporting, delivery of benchmarking results and driving quality improvement initiatives in response to benchmarking results.

The ultimate aim is to improve consumer outcomes through the identification of best practice and promote service improvement activities
About you

  • Clinical knowledge and skills to assist in the development of benchmarking indicators for extended treatment and residential inpatient mental health services.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to lead, manage, monitor, and report on projects at a Statewide level.
  • Effective computer skills in word, excel, and Teams. A working knowledge of MAPHs would be of benefit but not essential.

Mandatory Requirements:


  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/1
  • Vaccinated against COVID19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
