About the Team:


The Greater Cities Commission (GCC) is leading the delivery and coordination of innovation districts with the greatest opportunity to accelerate economic recovery for the Six Cities Region.


The Innovation Districts team is focused on collaborating across government, business and community to build strategic economic advantage, attract investment and generate great jobs.

With the involvement of many government and non-government stakeholders, these districts will act as catalysts for broader economic growth. These innovation districts will complement and reinforce each other, incorporating social, economic and sustainability benefits into their strategic development.

The innovation districts the Commission are focussing on include Central Coast, Tech Central, Macquarie Park, Westmead Innovation District and Macquarie Park.


The Opportunity:


Our Principal Planner is headed off on a period of leave, creating an opportunity for a passionate Planner to deliver and lead initiatives for our innovation districts and their city-shaping role.


The Senior Project Officer will be based in the Westmead Health and Innovation District (WHID) and responsible for effective stakeholder engagement and project management that fulfils GCC obligations.

You will play a direct role to accelerate positive outcomes for Innovation Districts - to increase the vibrancy of the District and improve its attractiveness as a destination of opportunity for talent development, business growth and liveability.


In this role you will:

  • Embed and promote a high performance and customerfocused culture to deliver placemaking initiatives that increase the vibrancy of the Districts and improve its attractiveness as a destination of opportunity for talent development, business growth and liveability.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships across government and external stakeholders to deliver excellence in relationship management and consensus building for high impact placemaking
  • Provide advice to Government project teams on key externally led placemaking projects across the District to ensure they embed the success factors for fostering a thriving innovation ecosystem.

About you:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Principal Planner ready to take the next step in their career.

You need to have demonstrated good stakeholder management skills, along with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes. You are confident in collaborating and engaging with diverse stakeholders and networks. An understanding of the success factors for innovation districts is essential.


This role works with various external stakeholders and teams across the GCC, so a professional and responsive approach and ability to multi-task is essential.


Ideally, you would have experience in major urban renewal projects, master planning, sustainability, Connecting with Country / bringing the voices of First Nations Peoples of Australia front and centre in placemaking, social planning, sustainability, diversity & inclusion and business case development, but not essential.

The Commission is a statutory body and reports directly to the NSW Government. We are an independent agency within the Planning and Environment cluster.

Salary:
Planning Officer (Professional) Level 3 ($135,745 to $158,082) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
