Why Your Role Matters:


The Culturally Responsive Schooling (CNS) project is a three-year practice/research informed program to support schools to better engage and support the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The collaborative project between 5 universities, schools and communities, schools, aims to establish a culturally nourishing program of whole school change.


The overarching focus of this project is the implementation of a whole-school program to develop a critical mass of informed teachers and school leaders, Aboriginal families and communities in the support of sustainable improvements in the educational outcomes of Aboriginal students.


This is a full-time position fixed term for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a period of up to two years.

In this position you will support the development of a research agenda for the project.

You will work with the research team in developing a robust plan and supporting the timely development of research papers and reports.


Further, the Fellow would be required to attend at least one of the research sites when the project was being undertaken.


The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will report to the lead CI Dr Kevin Lowe (in collaboration with other CIs, on occasion and as appropriate).


Responsibilities:


  • Undertake disciplineappropriate, highquality qualitative scholarship in a research program directed by A/Prof Kevin Lowe, relevant to teachers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and education, both independently and part of the project team, with a focus to enhance the quality of research outcomes in this project.
  • Prepare and publish scholarly research outcomes in relevant highquality peerreviewed journals, reports and/ or books, including but not limited to literature reviews, data collection and analysis, and theoretical positionings.
  • Present research outcomes at seminars, conferences, and industry meetings, and engage with external stakeholders, to contribute to public understanding and debate through media, industry and/or policy engagement.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

Who You Are:


To be successful you will have:

  • Experience in supporting the management of a large research program
  • Demonstrated an ability to take the lead in writing research papers and reports.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of highquality and high impact, with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence, as well as the capacity for research leadership.
