About our Team

The Queensland Rail Travel network plays an important role in connecting regional Queensland and offers the largest and most comprehensive network of long-distance and tourist trains in Australia.

The long-distance travel trains that are primarily supported by this team include the Spirit of the Outback, the Inlander, the Westlander and the Spirit of Queensland.

Your reporting manager will be the Manager Travel and Tourism Maintenance however you will report directly into one of the Maintenance Shift Leaders when working your shift.

There are 16 Electrical Maintainers in the team and you will also interact closely with the wider Regional Rollingstock team which includes Mechanical Maintainers, Maintenance Shift Leaders, Reliability Improvement Officers and cleaners.

About the Role

Due to an internal movement, we have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Maintainer (internally known as Traveltrain Maintainer - Electrical) to join our Regional Rollingstock team based in Bowen Hills (Mayne) on a permanent full-time basis.

In this role you will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, repairs, modifications and fault-finding inspections on our traditional / long distance travel trains

About you:

Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Licence
Proven faultfinding experience on light and heavy mechanical equipment
Strong focus on safety

Proven fault-finding experience on DC and AC electrical systems including power generation equipment highly desirable.

Hours and Salary

This role requires you to work on a 8 day fortnight (76hrs) Rotational across day shifts hrs), Afternoon Shifts (1330hrs - 2300hrs) and weekends hrs).

Working in this team on the current roster an Electrical Maintainer earns between $85,000 - $100,000 plus superannuation. This includes the allowances and penalty rates for weekend and afternoon shifts. Overtime is also available.
