About the Role

Fulfil the accountabilities and responsibilities of this role in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives, as outlined below.
Staffing and budget responsibilities:
To facilitate budget and compliance by the efficient and effective use of resources.
The following positions report to the Principal House Officer/Registrar: Intern, Junior House Officer and Senior House Officer.
Provide inpatient and outpatient care by: To provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
Assessing patients, determining, and instigating appropriate investigations
Establish management plan for patients in consultation with the consultant
Where appropriate, ensure discharge planning commences early in the process of care (inpatients only)
Communicate assessment findings, proposed management plans and alternatives to patient and carers and seek consent
Gather input from appropriate multidisciplinary team for patient's ongoing clinical care
Continually monitor and review patient progress and adjust the management plan when necessary; and
Ensure timely, effective and appropriate clinical handover with other staff and healthcare providers.
