The Team Leader, Civil Law will work with the Manager and the other legal officers to deliver consistent, high quality and efficient legal information, advice and representation to clients in a manner consistent with the Division's objectives, within budgetary constraints and consistent with relevant funding agreements, including reporting requirements.
The Team Leader, Civil Law will assume conduct of the more complex matters across the breadth of the work of the Division, including providing representation services as counsel where appropriate and consistent with their expertise.
The Team Leader will be familiar with the Commonwealth civil law priorities identified in the National Legal Assistance Partnership (which include consumer law, human rights and anti-discrimination, migration and social security matters) and will appear in both the AAT, the SACAT and from time to time in other courts and tribunals including the Supreme Court of South Australia.
The Team Leader, Civil Law will work with the Manager, Civil Law and the Chief Legal Officer in identifying and implementing strategic priorities for the Division including maintaining and enhancing positive team culture and supporting effective internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Salary Range
LSC3 $100,264 - $110,266 per annum plus superannuation
As a not-for-profit organisation, the Legal Services Commission is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

What You Need For Success
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, under limited direction, either independently or within a team by showing commitment to achieving team objectives and organisational goals and by establishing effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds, showing a genuine understanding and respectful response to various cultural, ethnic, indigenous, and healthrelated differences.
- Demonstrated experience in advising on and appearing in matters before the AAT, SACAT and in any other areas of legal assistance currently administered within the Division or identified as Commonwealth civil law priorities in the National Legal Assistance Partnership.
