Your new role


The Office of the Academic Registrar is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to oversee and manage our general student conduct processes, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all instances of alleged student misconduct are dealt with in a timely, effective, and fair manner.

This is a varied role, in which you will provide advice, assistance and support to stakeholders both internal and external to the university.

You will work with staff from all levels across the university, including faculty and senior executive members, and external agencies such as the WA Ombudsman.


In this role, you will:


  • Lead and manage processes relating to the handling of cases relating to General Misconduct, Academic Record Fraud, and student concerns, appeals, and internal/external complaints that fall within the remit of the Office of the Academic Registrar.
  • Ensure that the University's obligations are met in respect to the role and relevant legislative requirements (e.g., Higher Education Standards Framework.)
  • Plan, organise, manage, and review the operations of the Policy Compliance Officer and Student Discipline and Appeal Officer(s), ensuring equitable allocation of work priorities, and development of staff through performance and career development reviews.
  • Prepare reports, submissions and other documents as required, and serve on working parties and committees.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Extensive experience and proven management expertise within a complex organisation, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
  • Deep knowledge of student conduct and appeal/complaint issues encountered in a tertiary education setting.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and direction, promoting a solution focused, collegial, and positive valuesbased team culture.
  • Compassionate approach to casehandling and a clear commitment to ethically sound outcomes and procedural fairness.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to nurture collaborative relationships across all levels of interaction.


You will be experienced in conducting interviews with relation to misconduct, with a demonstrable interest in finding defensible and ethically sound outcomes for both simple and complex cases.

This would suit an individual who has an analytical mindset, coupled with strong communication skills to deliver information and outcomes with compassion and respect.
