Western Health is seeking a suitably qualified, highly motivated and dynamic Senior Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), a maximum-security women's prison in Melbourne's West. The role will involve the oversight and provision of evidence based AOD interventions, including administration of the AOD – Health group programs, harm reduction interventions, assessment and treatment planning, and collaboration with other services providers both within and external to the Primary Health Services at DPFC.
The Senior AOD Clinician role will leadership in developing the knowledge and confidence staff Health Services staff to identify and respond appropriately to AOD presentations within the custodial setting.
On 1 July, 2023 the delivery of primary healthcare transitioned from the current service provider to Western Health. The multidisciplinary team will provide holistic and interconnected service provision to patients at DPFC. Successful applicants will be on boarded during the transition period for orientation and training including additional training to support the delivery of culturally appropriate, trauma informed, gender affirming care for all patients including priority cohorts.
This role presents a significant opportunity for both clinicians seeking to gain experience in custodial settings as part of their career development, as well as for people committed working with marginalised and vulnerable cohorts in this complex setting.
