It looks to complement a continuum of care model for parents / carers to further develop confidence and capacity in parenting, improve the parent-child relationship and support families to step up or down from our more intensive Karitane Parent Child Interaction Therapy service (PCIT) also offered in Miller.

The CNS plays a key role in facilitating the BFT program and providing child and family health coaching to families with young children.

The CNS holds a clinical leadership role within a

multidisciplinary team, including the delivery of evidenced based parenting programs.

The CNS is essential to building key stakeholder relationships, facilitating effective collaboration of services and ensuring parents and their children receive quality care and wrap around support that meet the needs of the family.

The CNS 2 also liaises with community services, such as our CfC partner Mission Australia, Heckenberg Public School and our Karitane Perinatal Infant Mental health Team (PICMHS).

PCIT is provided by one of our Karitane Psychologist (from the PICMHS team) and is an evidence based early intervention model that includes a combination of play and behavioural therapy for young children and their parents or caregivers.

PCIT has been operating onsite at Heckenberg Public School for the past 5 year's very successfully with great outcomes for children and families.

There is also a proposed teacher education component (Teacher Child Interaction Therapy TCIT) to the program which is currently in progress.
