Key accountabilities
Act as the owner of QTC's outsourced cloud IT services, from infrastructure to database layers, including:

  • Virtual servers and appliances
  • Virtual desktop services
  • Cloud storage, including private and public cloud
  • Associated services e.g. BackupasaService, and
  • Any associated system software

and wide area networking services including:

  • Primary and secondary (redundant) network connections between QTC offices and outsourced data centres
  • Redundant internet connections
  • Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute
  • Remote access services, and
  • Virtual private network (VPN)

ensuring that it:

  • Is covered by outsourced support agreements commensurate with the business need.
  • Is regularly maintained with security patches, bug fixes, operating system software version upgrades, and
  • Periodically refreshed to ensure ongoing supportability is enabled.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a roadmap for the provision, enhancement and ongoing maintenance of inscope IT infrastructure, networking and telecommunications equipment, ensuring that QTC's business change governance process is adhered to and aligned with during the implementation phase.
  • Contribute to the governance and supplier management of QTC's primary Managed IT Services provider including:
  • Active participation in the agreed Account Governance Framework, in collaboration with Vendor Management and Procurement and Service Management colleagues.
  • Building and maintaining constructive relationships with delivery team leaders and account representatives for escalation purposes.
  • Escalating instances of underperformance and managing issues to resolution
  • Prioritise and manage the efforts of the outsourced infrastructure support teams to best align with technology and business drivers
  • Support other team members with management of other onpremises infrastructure, LAN networking and telephony equipment and services
  • Support other IT teams as required especially including any activities where resource constraints prevent full ownership within each team e.g. Financial settlement system administration
  • Any other duties as directed by the Principal, Service Management and IT Infrastructure, Networks and Telecommunications.

Required qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or significant relevant experience and understanding.
  • Microsoft Azure certification (e.g. AZ900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals) would be desirable.
  • ITIL Foundation certification would also be desirable.

Required experience

  • Significant and demonstrated experience managing outsourced IT service providers in a complex multivendor environment, including:
  • Service level management / Service performance management
  • Relationship management
  • Risk management
  • Financial management
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking and telecommunications as industry bestpractice, and
  • Although the role is not handson, recent experience in managing corporate IT infrastructure, especially Azure cloud, would be desirable.
