We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual with the ability proactively engage with and bring about positive change in health and wellbeing for the citizens of Latrobe City.



About this Role


The Social Inclusion Action Group Officer will work with the community, community groups and funding bodies to bring about sustainable positive change in health and wellbeing within Latrobe City.


  • Bring together community members and leaders in a Social Inclusion Action Group and support them to undertake communitybased decision making, supporting social inclusion efforts
  • Undertake research and data analysis to inform communitybased decision making of the Social Inclusion Action Group
  • Build links with agencies, organisations and government to facilitate shared planning, advocacy and on key community needs and issues
  • Develop, implement and coordinate a range of projects and initiatives that are responsive to community needs in accordance with the Council Plan and the Municipal Public Health & Wellbeing Plan.

About You


We are seeking an individual with ability to work with community members and other stakeholders to identify community needs with excellent understanding of health & wellbeing concepts, including health promotion & primary prevention strategies.

You will have a commitment to initiating, implementing and managing change that impacts the health and wellbeing of the broader community.


You will have:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in Community Development or significant experience in a relevant sector.
  • Experience in codesign, working with community members and leaders to cocreate and implement innovative and local solutions in response to community need.
  • Experience working within a politically sensitive environment.
  • Lived experience of engaging with public specialist mental health services and a broad understanding of challenges faced by people with mental illness, mental health challenges or psychological distress, including as a family member, carer or supporter will be highly regarded.
