The role


The Network Modelling Manager is responsible for leading a team that enables the strategic direction for advanced modelling by providing enhanced network modelling capabilities and associated improvement in processes.

This includes maintaining fit-for-purpose electrical network master models and supporting the development and governance of automation tools for analysis and reporting.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Motivate and lead a team that consistently delivers against functional goals including the development of enhanced network modelling capability and the implementation of improved planning processes. The group also provides leadership and support to Protection, Network Operations, Business Enablement and Digital Office teams, in order to support them meet the Energy Queensland Business Plan and Strategic Goals.

  • Drive sustainable change and embed Energy Queensland's vision and strategic goals by contributing to the development and implementation of advanced power system analysis.
Critical to your success in the role is your:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and eligible to be a member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust);
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ);
  • Post graduate qualifications in Engineering, Business, Commerce or related field;
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge across a range of Network Modelling process, systems and data such as load flow analysis, protection studies, reliability studies, fault level assessment, strategic planning scenario analysis, and new technology modelling;
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in IT project management, process improvement and change management in a complex organisation;
  • Proven expertise in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of electricity distribution, transmission assets and systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead change initiatives and work collaboratively across a complex business;
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information and make commercial and riskbased recommendations to optimise network and business outcomes and performance.
