About the role
Supporting people at all stages of the migration experience is a core program at Red Cross.

This includes refugees, people seeking asylum, people in detention centres, people who may have been trafficked or forced into marriage, people who've been separated from their loved ones and other people who might have slipped through the cracks and not have any other support.


We work with people based on need; regardless of how they arrived in Australia and irrespective of their visa status.


About the role


You will work with newly arrived culturally and linguistically diverse people and their communities to build their capacity and empower community members to actively address health issues that affect their lives.


Working within the Migration Support Programs (MSP) community development framework, you will engage and support the casual Bi-Cultural support officers, build local partnerships, facilitate linkages between agencies and the community and support the development and delivery of programs and projects to address identified health literacy needs.


It's a great opportunity to develop and leverage local community networks to build community and service provider capacity to address community level issues, while developing and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholder organisations.


What you will bring

  • Excellent general office administration and records management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding issues affecting people impacted by migration, their vulnerabilities, needs and strengths
  • Proven highly developed organisational, time management and project management skills
  • Experience in working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in coordinating, managing, training and supporting volunteers
