About the role
We are looking to hire a Terminal Controller to support the team at our Acacia Ridge Terminal.

The role reports to the Terminal Planning Supervisor and you will participate on a roster covering 24/7 operations including holiday relief.

In this role you will be responsible for recording and facilitating the implementation & coordination of all movements of trains, light locomotives, wagons and contractors within the Acacia Ridge Terminal, through the use of train graphs and panel based equipment.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising, coordinating and facilitating the safety of all people working within the rail corridor
  • Managing all rollingstock movements within the yard
  • Liaising with external train controllers and external train drivers to direct and instruct movements within the yard.
  • Managing allocation and availability of assets to satisfy customer needs and work in conjunction with operational personnel to deliver on equipment availability
  • Advising train operators and relevant stakeholders of alterations to the train plan
  • Reporting and managing emergency management processes
  • Managing contractors and visitors attending or working on site
  • Ensuring all relevant stakeholders are promptly advised of incidents which occur within the terminal.
  • Recording and maintaining data online
  • Liaise with customers to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Ensuring the all relevant safe working procedures are abided by

About you


We are looking for someone with who is an effective communicator with a proven history of demonstrating their your knowledge of all safe working procedures and train operating standards.

You will have a flexible mindset as no two days are the same in this role. You are not afraid of showing initiative and taking responsibility.


Furthermore, you will have:

  • Experience working in Supply Chain, Transport, Rail or other relevant industry
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience in Investigations and reporting
  • Experience with transport planning or similar
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Advanced Intermediate computer / Microsoft Office skills
