Position Description


GTO Service Market Logistics (SML) APAC is a part of Group Trucks Operations (GTO) being globally active in more than 40 locations delivering world-class operational excellence for our customers, based on smart logistics solutions we have.

Our job is to develop, manage and optimize the Service Market supply chain for all Volvo Group brands.

The primary focus of this role is to drive, facilitate and implement our strategic safety priorities, well-being and people development of all employees associated with GTO Service Market Logistics in the National Distribution Centre Sydney.

One of the key objectives of this role is it to bring people at first mindset by creating high engagement level amongst leaders, employees, and all relevant stakeholders.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Safety Partner looking for their next role.

The incumbent will be adaptive and hands on expert with strong working knowledge of current WH&S and industry specific legislation and regulations.

Your passion for safety and improvement, coupled with your versatility in partnering with a variety of stakeholders will contribute to your success in this role.

THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an active Safety, Health & wellbeing Plan for the Distribution Centre Sydney in close collaboration with leaders, and further support the team to improve safety performance and compliances in continuous basis
  • Ensure a culture of safe work environment for all people by having competence development approach and securing an active care mindset
  • Reporting of safety standards i.e., Serious Incident Fatality (SIF), Lost Time Accident Rate (LTAR), Environmental KPI's, Health concerns etc.
  • Actively partner with suppliers to reduce site waste to landfill by optimising recycling opportunities, in line with the Volvo's Sustainability for Our Future strategy.
  • Be active in Gemba and raise concerns to address any health & safety hazards, including near misses
  • Promote wellbeing and health in the Organization by supporting positive work/life choices, having an awareness of mental health and other health issues, and understanding support networks
  • Actively work with implementing and maintaining the Volvo Group Safety (and environment) directives
  • Oversee compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes of practise to encourage safe working practices and safe behaviour at work
  • Managing return to work procedures for injured workers by communicating with medical practitioners, specialists and ICare including the preparation and distribution of suitable duties for work and nonworkrelated injuries
  • Coordinate the sites' Safety Committees and Emergency Control Organizations including the training of representatives
  • Coordinate wellbeing initiatives i.e. flu vaccinations, mental health awareness, etc.
  • Participate in the SML Global safety network team to learn best practices and share within network members / APAC Region
  • Organize and lead SML APAC Safety Network to secure continuous improvement in the area of safety, health & wellbeing of SML APAC Region

  • Digitally Savvy with real time experience of efficiency gain through automation is a preferred skill
  • High Integrity, confidentiality, and maturity level
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and multicultural communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and change effectively

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE of the position holder

  • Formal education in business management with specialisation in Health, Safety & Environment will be preferred
  • Return to Work certification
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (preferred)
  • ISO and Foundations Certification with Auditor qualifications preferred
  • Real time experience of risk assessment and audit processes and facilitation
  • Advanced in Microsoft 365 suite / tools and attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting
