About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Pain Medicine Specialist Psychologist to join our team in the Royal Children's Hospital's Children's Pain Management Service.

This is a Part Time Fixed Term position at 0.2FTE working on Thursdays only. This is to cover a period of Sabbatical Leave from August January 2025.

You will work as part of a highly supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to children and adolescents with chronic pain, including conditions such as: CRPS, headaches and widespread body pain.

These services are provided on an outpatient basis with the primary objective to return patients to their normal level of functioning.

Our clinic runs on a hybrid model with both face to face and telehealth appointments.

What you'll achieve:

Provide specialist care and expertise in the acute pain inpatient setting (ward rounds and referrals]) and outpatient chronic pain clinic.
Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure their understanding, and that their needs and views are included in treatment, care plans and actions
Provide clinical expertise specific to caseload and actively share knowledge with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient management and clinical outcomes
Achieve and maintain competency in relevant skills in line with departmental requirements specific to role

Your skills and experience:

Extensive experience in chronic pain management
Experience working closely within a multidisciplinary team
Registered as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA
Completed a fellowship with the faculty of Pain Medicine (FPMANZCA) or equivalent
Extensive experience in chronic pain management
