About the Role


An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Pain Medicine Specialist Psychologist to join our team in the Royal Children's Hospital's Children's Pain Management Service.

This is a Part Time Fixed Term position at 0.2FTE working on Thursdays only. This is to cover a period of Sabbatical Leave from August January 2025.


You will work as part of a highly supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to children and adolescents with chronic pain, including conditions such as: CRPS, headaches and widespread body pain.

These services are provided on an outpatient basis with the primary objective to return patients to their normal level of functioning.

Our clinic runs on a hybrid model with both face to face and telehealth appointments.


What you'll achieve:


  • Provide specialist care and expertise in the acute pain inpatient setting (ward rounds and referrals]) and outpatient chronic pain clinic.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure their understanding, and that their needs and views are included in treatment, care plans and actions
  • Provide clinical expertise specific to caseload and actively share knowledge with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient management and clinical outcomes
  • Achieve and maintain competency in relevant skills in line with departmental requirements specific to role

Your skills and experience:


  • Extensive experience in chronic pain management
  • Experience working closely within a multidisciplinary team
  • Registered as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA
  • Completed a fellowship with the faculty of Pain Medicine (FPMANZCA) or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in chronic pain management
