Overview


The
Women's & Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.

We are the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA's largest maternity and obstetric service.


Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.


The
Department of Paediatric Dentistry is a specialist paediatric dental unit within the Women's and Children's Hospital that provides dental care to eligible children and adolescents from birth to 18 years of age in outpatient clinic, operating room and emergency settings.


We also partner with our medical and surgical teams in the management of patients with complex medical conditions and special health care needs.

We provide in-patient support for the oral health care needs of patients admitted to WCH and 24-hour emergency dental service in coordination with the Paediatric Emergency Department.

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists within
Dental Services to join us as
Dental Assistant (OPS2) working in a
full-time capacity.

The
WCHN Dental Assistant is responsible for:


  • Role modelling a positive approach and commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrating empathy and understanding of clients from diverse, cultural, ethnic and social background.
  • Providing chairside dental assistance to dental practitioners
  • Preparing dental materials and equipment as requested by the dental practitioner

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, build positive relationships and work collaboratively with others
  • Proven ability to problem solve, manage priorities and organise own workload
  • Proven knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, instruments, materials, procedures and contemporary infection control and sterilisation procedures
  • Experience in the provision of chairside dental assistance
