Staff Specialist in Cardiology

John Hunter Hospital

Permanent part time 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)

_ Applications are invited from suitably qualified consultants for the position of Staff Specialist in Cardiology with John Hunter & Belmont Hospitals._


This position is a networked position based from the Cardiology Unit at John Hunter Hospital, with the expectation that inpatient and outpatient services are provided across both sites and works under the professional direction and leadership of the Director of Cardiology services, JHH.

John Hunter Hospital is the largest hospital in Hunter New England Local Health District with approximately 650 beds. A Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital we service a population of 800,000+.


Requirements:


  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology with a focus on noninvasive cardiology skills.
  • Recent comprehensive experience and interest in noninvasive cardiology with an interest in heart failure, genetics or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy desirable.

About the role:


  • Providing on call and inpatient cardiology services (including after hours) to John Hunter and Belmont Hospitals according to departmental rostering and mandatory contribution to the coordination of the Heart Team meeting.
  • Providing outpatient services including general cardiology outpatient clinics across both campuses, as well as provision of noninvasive diagnostic cardiology
