Consultant Interventional Radiologist

About the Department


Imaging at Monash Health incorporates a full range of services including CT, US, MRI, DEXA, PET, Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray, Lithotripsy, OPG, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and Interventional and Therapeutic imaging services at the Monash Medical Centre - Clayton; Monash Children's Hospital, Clayton; Dandenong Hospital, Dandenong; Casey Hospital, Berwick; Moorabbin Hospital, Bentleigh East, Kingston Centre, Cheltenham and the Pakenham Health Centre, Pakenham.

Imaging also supports the Monash University Biomedical Imaging site including MRI and PET MRI.

The service provides over 365,000 imaging examinations per year across all sites, currently employs approximately 500 EFT and has a gross operating budget in excess of $100M.


The Imaging program clearly defines its mission as the delivery of leading edge, evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services and research and education that meets the needs of our community and employees.

Our proposed vision is to relentlessly pursue excellence, be a beacon within imaging and be the prime provider and destination of choice for our community, referrers, researchers, educational institutions, employees and students.


We are now looking to appoint to Consultant Radiologists to fulfill the clinical needs of the department.

_ About the Role_

The Consultant Radiologist will:

  • Assist the Program Director in providing a highquality imaging service across all Monash Health Imaging sites.
  • Contribute to the Monash Health Imaging diagnostic radiology service, participating in at least one other diagnostic subspecialty in addition to emergency radiology.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for Monash Imaging registrars/fellows.
  • Support research & education initiatives within Monash Health.
  • Participate in the general or paediatric oncall roster as appropriate.
  • Be willing to upskill as required by the department

What you need:


  • Essential:_
  • A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Registration by AHPRA with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration.
  • Subspecialty / fellowship training in Interventional Radiology
  • Valid radiation licence
  • EBIR or equivalent is encouraged

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association.

Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.

Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status.
