Job Description:
Reporting to the National Editor, we are seeking a highly skilled Business Editor to implement the editorial vision and strategy for business and finance journalism across our mastheads.
You will be a dynamic journalist and newsroom leader who possesses a sophisticated understanding of digital audience trends and has experience in developing compelling content to drive growth in subscribers.
Your task will be managing the performance of the team to align with the editorial and strategic goals of the business.
This role is responsible for commissioning and editing stories across all aspects of business journalism, from markets and companies to personal finance, tech and investigations.
You will be required to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, uphold the values of the newsroom, set the editorial direction, manage a large team and represent the mastheads publicly.
Qualifications:
The Business Editor will have a passion for finance and business journalism and have a drive for breaking news and setting the agenda.
You will bring:
- Strong journalistic background with great editorial judgement
- Track record of agendasetting journalism
- Strong digital publishing skills and an keen awareness of online publishing audience trends
- Ability to manage teams in Sydney and Melbourne (and be willing to do some travel between locations)
- Ability to work with senior journalists and also develop upandcoming talent
