About the Role


As a superintendent within our Asset Planning team, you will oversee and plan our assets within the bulk business unit at Pacific National.

You will be responsible for ensuring the planning, scheduling, maintenance of assets is done in line with compliance requirements and delivery expectations.

This position will have a strong focus on effectively planning assets for maintenance and customer requirements. This will include access confirmation, maintaining and improving achievability.

In addition, the Asset Planning Superintendent responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the team to expand the asset and maintenance plans
  • Manage and implement processes that ensure the timely and consistent flow of information that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Manage the development in implementation of innovative planning solutions by working with stakeholders, the planning team and customer service teams.
  • Manage rail possession planning, ensuring customer plans are adjusted to maximise delivery and customers have a full understanding of impact.
  • Ensure that adjustments to service plans scope do not negatively affect the plan for the rest of the week, compromising the interests of our customers and the utilisation of Pacific National's assets.
  • Proactively assess and provide input to customer short term plans and asset schedules to ensure compliance with strategic plan and to meet operational objectives and service standards.
  • Capture and plan opportunities for overall cost reduction and reporting on benefits.
  • Deliver quality outcomes aligned to strategic direction.
  • Drive team's result, ensuring that team members are supported, trained and have the right tools to perform their duties.
  • Engage and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders & customers

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant business discipline or relevant experience.
  • Training or qualification in Frontline Management or similar.
  • Experience in rail or other heavy transport industries, including specialist or technical knowledge of transport, logistics planning and operations
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management planning, scheduling or similar.
  • Experience in developing talent within own team to deliver business outcomes.
  • Strong problemsolving capability
  • Ability to lead through others using a collaborative approach
  • Ability to continuously improve systems, process, and human factors
