Role responsibilities
- Implementation and change management of WAN/MAN/TPNC changes (e.g., OS upgrades) and ensure all work is carried out to a high standard.
- Configuring, troubleshooting, and managing Nokia routers (7750, 7705, Hc).
- Configuring and managing Cisco routers (1000, 9000 series).
- Perform Operations and Maintenance of the LTE Backbone IP/MPLS.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance by analysing Nokia Server (NFM-P) Alarms.
- Perform Checks on the quality of work done by project team on newly commissioned network nodes and responsible for its handover acknowledgement to operations team.
- Highlighting any design issues to the Engineering team and following up until its resolution.
- Suggesting design improvements to Engineering team which could be beneficial for the network going forward.
- Performing software upgrades of network elements.
- Perform after hour support (rostered on call).
- Engage with equipment vendors for complex faults.
- Maintain up to date information about configuration Items and their associations required to deliver telecommunications services.
- Develop good technical awareness of new product developments in emerging technologies.
- Manage own work effort effectively with minimum supervision.
- Work on own initiative, recommending and implementing improvements to the network.
- Mentoring and raising the technical skills of level 1 and 2 engineers.
- Risk Analysis and Validate Changes to minimize the impact.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Provide Root Cause Analysis for Low, Medium and High Severity Incidents.
- Responsible to document all Troubleshooting activities into the incident record/ticket.
- Coordinate with onsite operation teams to resolve regional/global problems.
- Further development of existing network infrastructure.
- Provide a technical point of contact between user/IT groups to ensure effective support.
- Project collaboration with Implementation and Engineering teams
Work Experience
A minimum of Five years of experience working in a network control environment and experience in all of the following areas:
- Bachelor's degree qualification (Telecommunications/Engineering, IT/Data Networks) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 Years telecommunicationsbased experience within a large enterprise/carrier or integrator. Mining, Industrial/Oil and Gas or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Good understanding of all key technologies in Data Networks including traditional WAN and SD WAN and knowledge of Cisco products including Cisco's SD WAN (Viptela) technology.
- IP/MPLS Networks experience in
- BGP, MP-BGP, LDP, RSVP, IS-IS, Traffic Engineering, MPLS L2 VPN, MPLS L3 VPN, Multicast in MPLS Networks.
- IP Transport/transmission
- IP MPLS, Routing and switching, QoS.
- Experience with Cisco 1k and 9k series.
- Experience with Nokia routers 7750, 7705 and Hc.
- Experience with Nokia NSP/NFM-P.
- Knowledge in LTE EPC systems and protocol experience in
- HSS, MME, SGW, PGW, signalling trace/analysis, IMS, VoLTE (Advantageous).
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes and system engineering.
- Knowledge in Network automation.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP/CCIE).
- Nokia Certified Network Professional
Pay:
$145,000.00 per year
