Feathers Hotel has recently undergone renovations to open and lighten bar areas and create a flow between the hotel's indoor and outdoor offerings.

We are working to casualise the space and improve service to promote a relaxed atmosphere and comfortable ambiance for the customer.


THE JOB


The
Feathers Hotel is a large venue with three distinct service areas, the Pavilion Cafe, the Terrace and Garden Bars, and the Greenhouse Restaurant and Lounge Bar.

Multiple spaces within the hotel for functions and events ensure excellent options and offerings for the customer.

The
Function and Events Manager reports to the Venue Manager and works closely with the Head Chefs and Department Managers to execute a positive and memorable customer experience.

This role will be responsible for front-of-house staff working across functions and events at the hotel.


Ensuring customer service, food, and drink quality is of the highest standard, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, community-minded, and has a positive and team player attitude.

Function and event operations are to be handled with a hands-on approach and drive for the development of service standards across the hotel offers.

This dynamic role requires an aptitude for marketing, sales, and promotions, for the benefit of the hotel's ongoing growth and success.


  • Daily operations management of all aspects of the functions and events at the hotel
  • Delivering superior and consistent service to maximise the customer experience
  • Managing all customer interactions with the utmost professionalism
  • Upholding and maintaining the highest standard of restaurant and hotel cleanliness, ambiance, and presentation
  • Superior planning and execution of promotional activities, functions, and events across the venue
  • Managing a team, including recruitment, training, development, and performance management
  • Implementation of sales and marketing strategies for increased margins per spend across functions and events in the hotel
  • Ability to achieve budgets through effective rostering, upselling, and targets
  • Effectively maintain stock control and organisational procedures

Skills and Experience

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol and RP Badge
  • Extensive and proven experience in functions, events, and marketing/promotions
  • Proven experience managing a team and working with others
  • Qualifications in hospitality or business (preferable)
  • Ability to set and maintain services standards through ongoing training and development of frontofhouse staff
  • Background in developing, organising, and managing a range of functions and events
  • Experience with social media and promotional activities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, mentoring, and time management skills
  • A handson leadership style and team player attitude
  • Ability to accept significant levels of responsibility and accountability
  • Extensive knowledge of food, wine, spirit, and beer
  • Ability to train, motivate, and counsel staff in relation to performance issues
  • Strong decisionmaking skills relating to staffing, patron comfort and care, and strategic business issues
