The Opportunity

  • Collaborate with national research infrastructure partners to develop skills initiatives and programs that increase data capability across the sector
- $112,154 - $126,366 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading

  • Fulltime (35 hours week), 5year fixed term contract


The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is a transformational initiative that is enabling the Australian research community and industry access to nationally significant, leading-edge infrastructure, platforms, skills and collections of high-quality data.

ARDC Skilled Workforce Development group is working with project partners and stakeholders to build a national skills agenda to improve the quality and consistency of research data


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying skills needs and codesigning skills programs across themes of Planet, People and HASS research
  • Working with and supporting national research infrastructure organsiations to develop and implement data and skills strategies to increase their data capability, including research data governance and management
  • Facilitating the codesign and delivery of skillsrelated resources and activities for ARDC programs and projects


The role reports to the Manager, Engagements Team (UNSW) and has a dotted reporting line to the Manager, Skilled Workforce Development (ARDC).

About the successful applicant
You have a relevant tertiary qualification, and can demonstrate the following Skills and Experience:

  • Project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues and concepts involved with research data management practices, in particular those enabling FAIR data.
  • Knowledge of frameworks, policies, processes, procedures and learning or informational resources that form an organisation's strategy for research data.
  • Experience in designing and delivering workshops, training, mentoring and providing advice and support to stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate, consult, negotiate and liaise with stakeholders and colleagues collaboratively and productively in a team environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
