As a Health & Safety Partner, you will play a crucial role in embedding best practice safety initiatives to enhance the overall safety culture of the Council.

Reporting to the Coordinator of People & Culture, you will be responsible for building and driving successful partnerships across the organisation, promoting a positive safety mindset, and supporting internal and external relationships critical to compliance and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build and drive successful partnerships across the business, promoting a positive safety mindset.
  • Support internal and external relationships critical to compliance, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Build health and safety capability through a partnering model, upskilling leaders in risk and incident management.
  • Review, implement, and maintain consistent OHS policies and supporting procedures.
  • Assist leaders with Incident Investigations, claims, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain a Monitor and Review process to ensure frameworks meet legislative requirements.
  • Assist leaders in developing and implementing practices for the management and reduction of workplace injuries.
  • Oversight and management of Council's Health and Safety system and framework.
  • Implement Health and Safety initiatives with sound project management frameworks and consultation plans.

Key Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or a relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience in health and safety, human resources, or injury management.
  • Sound understanding of project management and facilitation practices.
  • Understanding of longterm goals of the functional unit and relevant organisational policies.
  • Familiarity with relevant budgeting techniques.
  • Knowledge of legislation, reporting requirements, principles, and practices in OHS and claims management
