    Description
    Our client - a fed government agency - is seeking applications from Linix System Administrator who have strong experience in system administration and hardening. Based in Melbourne office, this is a contract job for 12 months with the option of another 12 months extension.

    As a linux security specialist you will be responsible for assessing and recommending additional hardening of Linux/Unix systems. This will include developing tools or integrating existing tools and/or leveraging technology to assess system security of these platforms.

    Skills and experience required for the role:
  • Demonstrated experience in Linux/Unix system administration and hardening .
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix scripting languages and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix security best practices and standards.
  • Must have a baseline security clerance.
  • Experience in recognising vulnerabilities in Linux/Unix systems (e.g., vulnerability and compliance scanning).
  • Experience in conducting security assessments and audits of Linux/Unix systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and enforce security policies within a Linux/Unix environment.
    • Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities in OT/ICS environments.
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to interface with customers and various stakeholders and ability to manage concurrent tasks and adapt to changes at both project and solution levels.
  • NV1 Security clerance
  • Certifications in Linux/Unix administration (e.g., RHCE).
