With $1.6 billion of capital investment to be made over the next decade, Queenstown is continuing to grow and QLDC are looking for a Cost Management Specialist to join their knowledgeable and dedicated Property and Infrastructure team to help them on that ambitious journey.

About the opportunity


Reporting to the Investment Advisory Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the department's investment portfolios are optimized through exceptional cost, risk, and commercial management and advice.

Responsible for the cost management of the department's investment portfolios - setting and monitoring budgets, reviewing ongoing performance, and providing high-quality reporting and recommendations to the department's management team.


In doing so you will:

  • Identifying and responding to cost and commercial risks and opportunities across the department's portfolios
  • Responsibility for the provision of highquality cost, commercial, and risk planning and management advice for investment planning processes
  • Monitoring the performance of programmes and projects
  • Establishing, executing, and managing contracts related to investment planning activities
  • Providing leadership and driving continuous improvement in cost and risk management and performance across the department, regularly reporting on departmental capability and ongoing improvement opportunities.

About you


To be successful in this role, you will ideally hold a relevant tertiary qualification with experience in a similar role at leadership level.

You'll have a comprehensive understanding of value engineering and risk management and will be eager to share your skills with your team.

You'll have a passion for achieving sound investment decisions, good cost outcomes, and best professional practice.

You will have strong risk identification and management skills.

Along with your experience in complex commercial construction and social infrastructure investment programmes and projects, you will be ideally experienced in commissioning and managing external consultants and contractors.
