In this role you will:


  • Coordinate the preparation of annual estimates, branch budget targets for each financial year.
  • Provide advice on the budget allocation process for the branch.
  • Monitor branch expenditure and performance against budget targets and propose remedial strategies where required.
  • Oversee the administrative accounting functions of the branch and ensure compliance with the Department's accounting and finance standards.
  • Prepare annual submissions for capital and minor works and monitor their implementation.
  • Prepare plans for audit, stock takes, spotchecks, records management and archiving for the branch and monitor their implementation.
  • Provide an internal HR consultancy service to line management and staff of business units, in response to the day to day needs for a broad range of HR services and advice
  • Provide significant contribution to the development of HR plans aimed at delivering a broad range of services across the branch, ensuring alignment with relevant HR strategic objectives for QCS
  • Provide consultancy, support and advice to branch management and staff for the development and implementation of workforce support and strategy initiatives and programs
  • Build HR capability in the branch through implementing and coordinating key HR initiatives and supporting management to deliver outcomes associated with these initiatives
  • Contribute to the building of the professional capability of the Business Services team
  • Actively contribute to significant human resource projects including recruitment and retention activities that meet the staffing needs of the branch
  • Monitor the establishment reports and advise relevant managers of variations
  • Assist managers to manage staff numbers within establishment
  • Assist management with the preparation of business plans and related documents for changes to establishment
  • Assist in the development of the business plan for the branch
  • Assist management with the allocation of resources to meet branch needs
  • Liaise with staff and line managers to organise roster and other placements for training purposes
  • Manage the preparation and implementation of the centre's rostering plan
  • Liaise with staff and line managers to ensure effective rostering and rostering practices are effective and comply with relevant Awards and policies
  • Perform duties of rehabilitation officer / returntowork coordinator in consultation with the head office staff, line managers and rehabilitation providers
  • Process local claims for WH&S incidents to ensure that matters are resolved swiftly and in accordance with legislated timeframes and procedures
  • Supervise and encourage staff in the performance of their duties
  • Appraise performance and provide feedback for staff
  • Ensure staff are equipped with skills and resources to effectively undertake their duties
  • Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist the General Manager and branch management with the development and implementation of strategies aimed at maintaining industrial harmony across Escort & Security Branch by engendering effective working relationships between management, unions and staff
  • Maintain internal and external strong professional networks
  • Contribute to the knowledge base of the team
