What you'll do:


  • Support Senior/Principal Geochemists and Project Managers to scope and deliver high quality geochemical assessments within allocated timeframes and budgets.
  • Develop tailored geochemical sampling and analysis programs.
  • Undertake routine geochemical characterisation assessments for mine materials (e.g., waste rock and tailings) using standard geochemical characterization tools, including static and kinetic studies.
  • Visit client mine sites to undertake inspections, supervise subcontractors (drilling, excavations), field monitoring and sample collection (e.g., water, tailings, waste rock and/or soil).
  • Collate, assess, and interpret technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Use generated technical data in conjunction with broader site context to make informed decisions and recommendations in relation to waste management.
  • Manage projects or packages of work as well as clients.
  • Collaborate with other teams within WSP to deliver integrated and multidisciplinary projects to our clients.

About you:


  • A Bachelor's degree in either (geo)chemistry, geology or earth science with previous consulting experience preferred.
  • Ideally, 3+ years of relevant professional experience in geochemical characterisation of mine waste, data interpretation, environmental risk assessment and waste management.
  • Previous mine site experience will be advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of standard geochemical characterisation tools and resources, including static and kinetic geochemical assessments.
  • Familiarisation with water treatment and source remediation is desirable but not essential.
  • Scientifically mined and practical, dynamic, proactive, curious, and capable to work independently and autonomously.
  • Analytical skills, including data manipulation and statistics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
