About You

The Compliance Manager - Reviews and Reports assists with the implementation and delivery of RMIT's internal education compliance and reviews/audits, including activities within an annual plan across all education legislation and regulations.

The Compliance Manager will take a leading role to report and categorise education regulatory compliance concerns and matters of relevance into a team register or repository, to ensure a single source of up-to-date compliance information.

This role will also undertake analysis and trend identification from the compliance register to inform and prepare governance and management reporting.

This role is positioned as a senior member within a team that operates with tact and discretion in dealings with all members of the university community, particularly where sensitive compliance matters and breaches are shared and disclosed.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Outstanding scheduling and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet team and management timelines.
  • Capacity to make autonomous decisions and interpret regulatory requirements, threshold requirements and standards in an education context, relevant to Australian and international education and the operations of a global university.
  • Working knowledge of the compliance and regulatory frameworks relevant to Australian and international education and the operations of a multisector global university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic and administrative policies and procedures and the ability to make related compliance recommendations; including capability to deliver timely advice to ERCA leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to make education regulatory decisions and provide advice autonomously and competently, and capacity to independently represent ERCAs compliance assurance agenda.
  • Demonstrated capability to work and thrive in an adaptive environment; including ability to work efficiently and reprioritise tasks at short notice, to ensure a team or manager can meet unexpected and tight legislative or statutory timelines.
  • Capacity to assess regulatory risks and think critically in a fast and dynamic compliance environment.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills to inform and advise on compliance solutions for colleagues.
  • Excellent report writing skills and capability to articulate recommendations and deliver presentations on action plans to university colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team situation and capacity to mentor others.
  • Keen to learn and in possession of a good growth mindset; RMIT experience highly regarded.
