Position Information


Vincentia High School is a vibrant co-educational, comprehensive; community school located in Jervis Bay on the south coast of New South Wales with student population of around 1000 students and approximately 150 staff.

Sixteen percent of our students identify as Aboriginal and supported by a range of cultural and wellbeing programs including Clontarf.

Our fifteen support classes cater for students with a range of disabilities including intellectual, physical, mental health and emotional disturbance.

Vincentia High School is an important member of the Bay and Basin Learning Community serving the educational needs of students from our local primary schools of Vincentia, Huskisson, Tomerong, St Georges Basin, Sanctuary Point, Sussex Inlet and Jervis Bay.

We have forged strong partnerships with all our partner primary schools, the Clontarf Academy, our local business community and allied health organisations.

The school has an expansive curriculum that caters for the learning needs of our students across all learning pathways.

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,


Approval to teach English 7-12 with proven capacity to review current teaching practice and embed innovative curriculum design in line with curriculum reforms.


Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement data driven, evidence-based teaching initiatives that have sustained and targeted impact on student performance.

Proven ability to lead whole school initiatives focused on student growth and inclusivity.


Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a culture of high expectations, and creative thinking across the faculty.

Demonstrated understanding and ability to lead a team to authentically embed local Aboriginal perspectives and protocols.


General Selection Criteria

  • 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions

The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000 (Conditions Apply).
