Role:

Ensure that the school grounds and buildings are well maintained and presented and that all work undertaken complies with statutory obligations and Department Standards


Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by having knowledge of OH&S RegulationsMaintain a healthy and safe working environment by having knowledge of OH&S Regulations
  • Work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support, students, parents and contractors
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the leadership team
  • Liaising with contractors at times under the direction of the Principal.
  • To provide maintenance and undertake repairs of a general nature

These include:
simple general plumbing (e.g. cleaning of stormwater drains, electrical work (e.g. replacing light globes), general carpentry, painting, cleaning and repairs

  • To provide general grounds maintenance

This may include:
general gardening/landscaping, blowing paved areas, mowing lawns and removing litter

  • Ensure discretion and confidentiality are maintained at all times
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Other duties as required by Principal & Facilities Manager, in line with role classification

Woodlands is located in a beautiful, treed enclave on the fringe of Langwarrin, 40 kilometres to the south of the Melbourne CBD.

The school has been open for twenty-five years. There are new housing estates within the area and further local residential developments are planned.

The school enrolment continues to increase with numbers reaching the 890-student mark in 2024. Further enrolment growth is anticipated.

A zone has been established to assist with the increase in enrolment demand from students residing outside of the local area.

As a result of the last school review a new organizational structure was established.

Currently, one Leading Teacher supports the Principal and Assistant Principal, assuming the role of overseeing curriculum development and teacher training for all areas of the curriculum.

A psychologist oversees the school¿s Student Wellbeing programs and procedures and they, along with the Business Manager, make up the School Leadership Team.

Three Learning Specialists and members of year level teams make up the Curriculum Team. Experienced teachers lead year level teams and form the Team Administrators Group. Non-teaching staff include the Business Manager, Office Manager. three office clerical staff, a library technician and fifteen integration aides.


There are 38 classes supported by co-curricular programs in Physical Education, Visual Art, Library, Digital Technologies, Performing Arts, Science, Media Studies, and LOTE.
