Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, Air Affairs provides targets and training services, and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts.
Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations.
We are currently taking expressions of interest for future roles from suitably qualified GIS Analysts to join our Bushfire and flood-mapping reconnaissance teams based in Nowra.
As a GIS Analyst you will be supporting our aircraft and scanner operators/aircrew to deliver information crucial to the effective searching for and mapping fire and flood areas.
We currently operates a fleet of specially modified Learjet and King Air aircraft to conduct wide area bushfire surveillance, multispectral imaging and aeromedical operations throughout Australia.
Liaising with government agencies, emergency services, our aircrew and pilots your day to day role as a GIS Analyst will include;Collating and curating a variety of multispectral images received from our aircraft
Ensuring our clients receive the information required as part of our contract
Developing operational improvements to help enhance and streamline mission planning, processing and delivery of imagery data
Liaising with our aircraft teams to select and develop the best outcomes for our clients

To be considered for this role you will need;
To be willing to be within 1 hr of Nowra for at least the first 8 weeks for training, after that the role can be remotely located.
IT skills and experience with GIS software such as QGIS, ENVI, Global Mapper or similarA willingness to work on call at short notice
High levels of awareness and a safety first attitude
Willingness to gain a defence security clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
