A little bit about us

A key role for the Department is to strengthen communities and regions, including in Australia's non-self-governing territories.

The Territories Division administers the territories of Christmas Island, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Jervis Bay and Norfolk Island; and manages national interests in the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.


The division delivers good governance and service delivery in the territories by providing governance frameworks and working with service delivery partners to provide services to support these communities.


The IOT Government Arrangements Section is responsible for: managing Service Delivery Arrangements (SDAs) with the WA Government, the Memoranda of Understanding with the Australian Federal Police for community policing and Parks Australia for mine-site rehabilitation, the provision of air services and airport management related services, travel schemes (comprising the Student, Apprentice/Trainee and Pensioner schemes), and liaison with the Shires on both Territories.


The Section is also responsible for matters associated with the Phosphate Resources Limited mine leases, including liaison, engagement and support for lease activities.


Key priorities for the Section are:

  • the renegotiation of existing SDAs;-
  • negotiations for newly identified SDAs;-
  • managing issues across the SDAs and effective liaison with the WA Government;-
  • administration of the IOT air services contract;-
  • administration of the airports management contract; and-
  • delivery of approved Administered Capital Budget projects.
The opportunity we have available


The IOT Government Arrangements Section is seeking to recruit a Contract Manager to manage a portfolio of SDAs with WA Government Agencies.


These agencies may include the:
Department of Finance; Department of Water and Environmental Regulation; and Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.


The successful applicant may also manage, or support the development of other key projects, programs or deliverables that contribute to branch, divisional or departmental priorities.

A merit pool may be established for a period of 12 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process.

What will you do?


Your role may include:

  • Day to day management of a portfolio of SDA's with WA State Government Agencies
  • Working with Commonwealth and WA State Government Agencies, Local Governments and contractors on the provision of services to residents of the IOT
  • Preparation of briefings, correspondence and communication products for a wide range of external and internal stakeholders
  • Management of a Capital Works Program including the preparation of Business Cases, Budgeting, Procurement of Services, Project Management and Project DeliveryWhat else can we offer?
