About Us

The Australian National University (ANU) is home to some of the most remarkable people from across the world: visionaries, influential leaders, researchers and advocates creating impact and change nationally, regionally and globally.

ANU attracts exceptional staff and students and, through education and enrichment programs, helps them to achieve ambitious goals, and pursue brilliant careers.

The Corporate Governance and Risk Office (CGRO) is responsible for managing the governance functions of the University, mainly by providing procedural advice and support to the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and the ANU Council, Council Committees, and the Academic Board.

CGRO also manages ANU policy, delegations and the risk management framework (including the internal audit function).

About the role

These opportunities focus on the work of a
Committee Secretary, a role that specifically supports the functions of committees established to advise the University Council (the Board).

The work involves providing procedural advice and administrative support to (usually) one of the high-level committees created by the University Council (for example: Finance, Campus Planning, Audit & Risk, and Student Safety).

These opportunities will also focus on supporting the work of the Academic Board, and especially its sub-committees.

Being a Committee Secretary involves creating agendas and producing draft minutes to a high standard, the review of and procedural advice about papers (especially recommendations), forward agenda planning, monitoring membership and liaison with the Chair, members and senior executives at the University.

When time permits, Committee Secretaries often assist other areas of the office that manage the Risk Management Framework (including Internal Audit), the 'Policy Governance Framework', and ANU Delegations.

Note:
the position description applies to a Senior Governance Officer as well as a Committee Secretary.

About You

ANU values diversity and inclusion and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to those of all backgrounds and identities.
