Due to ongoing company growth, our client has a rare opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join a committed and supportive Brisbane based team.

The Payroll Manager is a true leadership role.

The role will see you engaging with key customers, and managing the entire payroll department while leading a team of three payroll professionals.

Reporting into the General Manager of Finance, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for

  • Managing the processing of 3 fortnightly payrolls across both Australia, New Zealand, and Head Office employees.
  • Understanding and interpretation of multiple, complex awards.
  • Overseeing the accurate and timely processing of new starters, employee variations for job
changes, remuneration changes, incentives, leave payments and terminations

  • Leading all payroll projects and/or system changes to ensure system developments are aligned with the growing business needs.
  • Prepare and/or review End of Month reporting including STP lodgements, payroll batch
information, general ledger journals, leave provision journals and payroll clearing account
balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Preparation and review of all state and federal tax obligations across both Australia and New Zealand.

The Successful Applicant:


  • Extensive experience in handson management of a payroll function within a fastpaced organisation.
  • Complex understanding of all current relevant payroll legislation and compliance risks.
  • Experience with multistate Australian and also New Zealand Payroll.
  • Experience in multiaward environments.
  • Previous experience implementing/enhancing a Time and Attendance system.
  • Experience with either Sage MicrOpay or UKG Kronos Workforce is highly regarded.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with intermediate skills in MS Excel to produce, develop and present required documentation and reporting.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices, including journal postings and reconciliations.

The salary on offer is in the range of $120,000-130,000 + Superannuation.


Based in modern offices in the CBD, you will join an established finance department and report directly into a long-term Head of Finance.
