About the Role


An appointment exists for a commercially minded leader who has a passion for the Pathology and Healthcare industry; you will perform in the role of General Manager.

This senior management role is responsible for both the strategic and operational performance of Melbourne's Eastern region.


The role will see you focused on the areas of service excellence, financial stability, and efficient/effective operations as a member of the Victorian Leadership Team.

As General Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team in all key functional areas, including laboratory operations and pathology collections.

Within your role, you will manage a team of professional, highly committed industry professionals.

With your support and guidance, your team will be recognised as part of the medical community, and each member will be active in forming relationships that will lead to the overall success of the Eastern region.

As General Manager, you will have full P&L visibility and budget management responsibilities within your region. As part of your role, you will focus on continuously reviewing and improving operations, systems, medical relationships, and processes.


Communication and internal collaboration are key responsibilities within your role, and you will liaise with both state and national teams, including Marketing, IT, HR/Safety/Quality and Finance, to achieve agreed outcomes.

The General Manager, Victoria, will be part of the State Executive Team.

Further Key Responsibilities.

  • Offering direct support and leadership to a Sales Manager, Regional Laboratory Manager and Collections Manager, encompassing an overall team of approx. 450 employees.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational business plans that are aligned with the company's overall direction.
  • Deliver appropriate communication plans incorporating the company's vision and values, ensuring effective daytoday communication at all levels across the business.
  • Ensure that risk management programs are implemented and that business risks are identified and managed.
  • Take responsibility for profit optimisation, planning and analysis, marketing, and scoping of new business opportunities.
  • Identify, analyse and implement plans for revenue growth for existing clients in the region.
  • Maximise revenue through successful participation in negotiations with external stakeholders
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of new services that will generate revenue within the region
  • Develop and maintain highly effective customer relationships at senior levels, both internally and externally
  • Oversee the management of staffing levels, ensuring that all costs are consistent with operational requirements
  • Identify cost minimisation projects within the region and implement benchmarking data obtained from other parts of the business to optimise performance.
  • Foster a positive workplace and performance culture by promoting feedback and recognition.
  • Support the organisation's commitment to quality improvement and continuation of accreditation by monitoring the outcome of quality activities and identifying areas for improvement.
