About the role


Western Health has new opportunities for part-time (0.5EFT) positions available in our General HMO Training Stream for PGY2 and PGY3+ doctors commencing in February 2024.


Applicants might find the role suitable for work life balance, exam preparation, and research opportunities, while continuing to be a part of clinical duties.

Western Health will be offering 8 part-time positions (0.

5EFT, 12 months duration) consisting of the following four 3 month rotations:

Emergency Medicine (2 shifts per week):


  • Paediatric Emergency (2 shifts per week):
-
Acute Aged Care/GEM (week on/week off):


  • Leave/Nights/Relief

Please note:
the above rotations are set and cannot be changed. These roles may include a proportionate number of evenings, weekends and night shifts.


Successful applicants will be able to preference their timing for annual leave which will be allocated during their combined leave/nights/relief term.


Successful applicants must be PGY2 or above from February 2024, and have obtained their General Registration with AHPRA by January 2024.

Junior doctors in the General Training Stream are supported by a dedicated Director of Clinical Training and Medical Education Officer.


We have a strong focus on junior doctor education with a dedicated weekly intern and HMO education program, simulation and workshops for junior doctors, hospital grand rounds and a broad range of unit-specific education sessions.

The Western Centre for Health Research and Education (WCHRE) at the Sunshine Hospital campus is a purpose built teaching and research facility, including a state-of-the-art simulation centre.
