Join the energetic Hume Leisure team at Hume City Council to contribute to the operation and to provide high levels of Customer Service to both internal and external customers at all levels, whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity as a Swim Instructor.


What you'll be doing:


  • Conduct swimming classes in an efficient and responsive manner with the aim being to offer the highest standards on instruction.
  • Perform work in accordance with the Centre Operation Plan, Program Area Operations Manuals, Work Instructions and Work Plan.
  • Carry out the highest standards of class supervision and safety for the duration of the class.
  • To continually maintain and upgrade knowledge with a view to providing the highest standards of education.
  • Responsible to provide instructions to customers with a view to them achieving proficiency in swimming and related water skills at their level.
  • Responsible for setting up necessary lesson equipment and packing away on conclusion of lessons.
  • Responsible to commence and finish classes according to the rostered schedule.
  • To comply with administrative procedures.

Key skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

  • Good oral communication skills required for client liaison and instruction.
  • The ability to effectively impart their knowledge of water education skills to participants.
  • Ability to formulate and administer lesson plans to achieve effective well organised classes.
  • The ability to appropriately and effectively perform and demonstrate water education skills.
  • Austswim Certificate.
  • Previous relevant experience with children's programs.
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate including current CPR Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service.
