The NSW Government is making an historic new investment in children, families and the economic future of NSW by transforming early childhood education and care and women's economic participation in NSW.


The New Early Childhood Initiatives is a $15.9 billion investment over 10 years which aims to give every child in NSW the very best start in life and set them up for future prosperity.


Early Childhood Outcomes Division

The Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) Division leads the delivery of the Early Childhood Education Initiatives including comprehensive investments in the critical first 5 years of life for every child.

We are recruiting roles across all directorates within the Early Childhood Outcomes Division.


Early Childhood Strategy and Partnerships Directorate
We have a whole-of-government leadership role in Big Futures Start Small.

We are also focused on improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's outcomes within the New Early Childhood Initiatives, under the First Steps Strategy and through Closing the Gap.

We also lead national partnerships, policy and strategy formulation across the ECO division.


Early Childhood Outcomes Commissioning Directorate

Leads the design and delivery of early childhood education and care programs, projects and funding to ensure all children receive the best start in life and can reach their potential.


Our main areas of focus are:

  • Endtoend Commissioning and delivering early childhood education and care programs that deliver quality, participation, inclusion and affordability outcomes for children and families across NSW. This includes designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs and initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing inclusion policies and programs to improve access and inclusion for children with a disability, children from multicultural families as well as targeted access and inclusion programs for children experiencing disadvantage; and
  • Designing, and then scaling up over time, a new statewide network to support delivery of the New Early Childhood Initiatives

Service Excellence Directorate

We are a team of practitioners, service designers and policy makers who are putting the needs of families, children and the sector at the centre of the design and delivery of new universal pre-Kindergarten year.

We want to ensure all children, families and communities in NSW experience the pre-Kindergarten year as a shared, life-changing start to their education journey.


Workforce Strategy Directorate

We have an ambitious program of work aimed at helping to grow and support the NSW early childhood workforce and boost quality.

We aim to work in partnership with the early childhood sector to ensure the workforce is well positioned to help NSW to achieve the New Early Childhood Initiatives.
