The Role

Reporting to the Director - Operations, Strategy and Operations, you will be responsible to provide leadership, guidance and coaching for direct reports to promote an effective team environment to ensure that the Health Capital Division's (HCD) governance and assurance frameworks are legislatively compliant.

You will work collaboratively with stakeholders, including the HCD Project Management Office (PMO), to ensure accurate reporting on governance and risks activities for the delivery of capital projects and programs across Queensland Health.

This role will co-ordinate the implementation of the HCD Governance Framework and enterprise risk management system across projects, monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.

You will also proactively identify business improvement opportunities and recommend strategies to realise the benefits within an environment of fiscal restraint and oversee the internal financial control program to ensure legislative compliance.

This role also supports the broader needs of the Department, HCD and HHSs in providing strategic insights into the delivery of the Queensland Health capital acquisition program.

The successful person

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate experience in maintaining a high standard of practice through governance and risk activities and the ability to effectively manage team members.

You will lead team leaders and multiple projects or areas of work, under broad direction from the Director, Senior Director, or more senior program leader.

You will demonstrate leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills based on previous experience building and leading high-functioning teams.

You will be strategic, conceptual, and analytical relevant to a range of financial controls and demonstrate a proven track record in identifying, negotiating, and implementing solutions to complex problems.

You will have demonstrated experience in the provision of expert level advice on matters across all aspects of governance and continuous improvement compliance activities.
