Primary Responsibilities_

  • Oversee and manage the daytoday operations of the workshop.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to mechanics.
  • Ensure the quality of all work performed, including that it's completed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Coordination of technicians working on all equipment to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Manage and coordinate onsite contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitoring the cost and status of ongoing jobs and reporting to the Service Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues.
  • Manage inventory and ensure that necessary parts, tooling, and equipment are available when needed.
  • Manage and coordinate all deliveries relating to Heavy forklifts into and out of the branch.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new mechanics on the forklift range and identify training and skills development for the team.
  • Ensure safety policy and procedures are adhered to through ongoing communication and Toolbox meetings.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervision of direct reports.

Essential Criteria_

  • Qualified background with knowledge in the mechanical stream.
  • Experience in forklift maintenance and repair, or a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, favorable.
  • Welldeveloped organisational and time management skills essential.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and achieve set outcomes essential.
  • Sound leadership skills and experience managing a team of mechanics.
  • Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to relate to employees at all levels essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Good understanding of the OH&S principles and what is required in a workshop environment.
  • Sound computer skills, particularly MS Word and Excel
