Primary Responsibilities_
- Oversee and manage the daytoday operations of the workshop.
- Schedule and assign tasks to mechanics.
- Ensure the quality of all work performed, including that it's completed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Coordination of technicians working on all equipment to meet delivery deadlines.
- Manage and coordinate onsite contractors.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs.
- Monitoring the cost and status of ongoing jobs and reporting to the Service Manager.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues.
- Manage inventory and ensure that necessary parts, tooling, and equipment are available when needed.
- Manage and coordinate all deliveries relating to Heavy forklifts into and out of the branch.
- Provide training and mentorship to new mechanics on the forklift range and identify training and skills development for the team.
- Ensure safety policy and procedures are adhered to through ongoing communication and Toolbox meetings.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Supervision of direct reports.
Essential Criteria_
- Qualified background with knowledge in the mechanical stream.
- Experience in forklift maintenance and repair, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, favorable.
- Welldeveloped organisational and time management skills essential.
- Ability to plan, schedule and achieve set outcomes essential.
- Sound leadership skills and experience managing a team of mechanics.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to relate to employees at all levels essential.
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Good understanding of the OH&S principles and what is required in a workshop environment.
- Sound computer skills, particularly MS Word and Excel
