We are looking for an energetic, flexibly minded and well-organised

Maritime Services Manager with appropriate industry operational experience. An excellent communicator who is experienced in maritime & offshore operations together with being a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus and business development expertise. Being task as well as project-orientated with significant offshore and marine consultancy-related experience with a keen interest and knowledge of the offshore including, energy, renewables and maritime markets.


What you will be doing
:

As a

Maritime Services Manager, you will be working with a dedicated team of Master Mariners, Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the regional Maritime Operations are well coordinated to ensure that all enquiries and subsequent support to our clients are conducted in a timely and efficient manner to maximise profitability and performance. As such the staff role will be to conduct frequent site visits offshore and on vessels alongside, conducting inspections, audits, surveys or client/marine supervising as part of worldwide energy-related projects

You will also help to support the development and implementation of business management plans for the region.

The key dimensions of the role will be:

  • Report to the Shipping Manager -Australia -New Zealand & collaborate with the ABL Australasia team including the East Coast Manager and Marine Assurance Manager.
  • Develop, Undertake and Manage Maritime P&I/H&M and Consultancy Projects in Australasia and/or APAC.
  • Closely Liaise with Vessel Owners, Shipyards and other Maritime and Legal Clients in Australasia in order to build the ABL Maritime business in the Area, working closely with the ABL Regional Maritime Team
  • Undertake Expert consultancy and/or legalrelated projects in the relevant field of Experience
  • Organise and attend to P & I and H & M Claims and subsequent inspections as required.
  • Conduct surveys of vessels including OVID, IMCA CMID and MWS suitability inspections as appropriate
  • Attendance offshore as marine warranty surveyor during offshore construction projects.
  • Attendance on site and the provision of approval for towage, loadout and transportation activities.
  • If suitably experienced and trained, to carry out shipboard FMEA proving trials and formulate detailed reports in accordance with IMCA & MTS guidelines. Attend annual DP trials as required and document in the associated report.
  • Acting as client representative during offshore installation works.
  • Attending and contributing to risk analysis (both quantitative and qualitative) for offshore operations.
  • Provide marine support to clients in all areas of offshore marine operations.
  • Complete the review of technical reports, procedures, and marine studies.
  • Provide Marine support to the APAC team on Condition and Suitability Surveys as well as MWS projects.
  • Work with clients, shipyards, and other marine professionals to coordinate repairs and modifications.
  • Keep abreast of changes in maritime law and regulation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all surveys conducted.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards when conducting surveys.
  • Implement and continuously improve work processes to increase efficiency and ensure excellence in delivery.
The position will be based in Perth

  • Australia reporting to the Shipping Manager with the flexibility to working hours, willing to travel including offshore, work within a variety of time zones, building and maintaining chargeable work.

What we are looking for
:

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong relevant background.

Previous consultancy and management experience from a similar role with exposure to handling Maritime/legal cases together with marine warranty, marine consultancy, and vessel suitability inspections.

IMCA CMID/OVID accreditation or the ability to obtain would be a distinct advantage.

You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.


In addition, you will have:

  • Master Mariner, or relevant degree with significant offshore and marine consultancyrelated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of relevant experience within the Marine / Offshore Energy Industry with at least 5 years of related management experience, which should ideally include elements of marine consultancy.
