You will spend your days:

  • Investigating, analysing and reporting on engineering concepts and risks.
  • Planning and delivering critical engineering activities.
  • Providing advice to stakeholders.
  • Mentoring junior members.
  • Enabling good inventory decisions with quality and timely engineering advice.

About our Team

Explosive Materiel Branch is an integral part of Explosive Materiel Branch (EMB) within Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Delivery Division, which is part of GWEO Group.

Our team is made up of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services).

We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Melbourne and Stirling, and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.

EMB comprises approximately 500 dedicated employees performing requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal activities.


EMB partners with domestic and international industry to deliver materiel capability to Defence, managing a multi-billion dollar portfolio of complex, high-profile acquisitions and sustainment activities to support the ADF.

  • Have demonstrated experience in leading a team to deliver high quality engineering activities, including producing detailed engineering reports and artefacts, presenting information and advice to inform executive decision making.
  • Have a background in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering.
  • Take the initiative to resolve issues by identifying and developing ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action, whilst identifying their implications and associated risks.
