Are you a plumber looking for a career change in 2023? Are you passionate about utilising your extensive knowledge to make a positive difference to compliance and technical standards in the industry?


We currently have a permanent opportunity available in our Inspection Service Plumbing team where you can utilise your extensive Plumbing knowledge and experience to provide support and technical services within the Office of the State Building Surveyor.


As an Authorised Officer - Plumbing, you will provide an important service to the Victorian community through the audit and inspection of plumbing work throughout Victoria to determine compliance with Victorian legislation and plumbing standards.


You will using your extensive plumbing experience and industry knowledge to ensure and enforce compliance with technical standards, produce reports and recommendations, and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build meaningful relationships.


What we are looking for:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare information and advice in a clear and concise manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Qualified to gain a licence as a plumber in all main (nonspecialised) classes of plumbing work under Part 12A of the Building Act 1993 and hold (or eligible to hold) current registration in all main classes of plumbing work.
  • Demonstrated experience in a compliance, audit or enforcement role and the ability to prepare succinct and accurate audit and inspection reports.
