Description

Role of Disability Support Worker
To assist client with all her daily needs and requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Support client in completing all personal care
- showering twice daily, brushing teeth, washing hair, drying her, dressing her, changing her pad whenever required and at 4pm each day.

  • Support client with all feeding requirements
- giving her opportunity to have finger food given to her in small amounts, opportunity to pick her own food from fridge and pantry, feeding her food when required.

  • Support client to access the community by following her Day Program. If there is no Day Program activity assist Bethany to complete a communitybased activity
- walk, eating out, swimming, going to the shops, movies etc.

  • Support client to selfsoothe as much as possibly but to redirect (drive in the car, sensory toy area, put a movie on) or use restrictive practice measures (helmets, hats) to keep her from harming herself. Assist Bethany through emotional times by reassuring her, trying to distract her or changing her environment.
  • Support client by driving her motor vehicle safely.
  • Support client to attend appointments when required
  • Doctors, Psychiatrist, dentist, pathology etc.
  • Complete domestic tasks on shift
- washing, washing the dishes, making client's bed, wiping down benches and table, tidying up residence home.

  • Support client to access and complete activities at her residence
- playing in sensory area, watching an appropriate program on the television.

  • Administer all medication in accordance with doctors' instructions and house coordinators' instructions on creams and vitamins.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork on shift
- shift notes, medication sign off, sleep chart, menstruation sign off, bowel chart, car log, sunscreen sign off sign off teeth brushing and hair washing, changing nappy at end of shift etc.

  • Complete an informative handover to next staff member on completion of shift.
  • To follow all reasonable instruction from House Coordinator and Second incharge.
  • Report all concerns or issues to the House Coordinator and Second incharge, especially if it relates to another staff members role or responsibilities.
  • To read the communication book every shift
  • To attend team meetings, welfare meetings and other meetings if they are required.
  • Required to work shift hours.

$ $39.26 per hour
