_ Geriatrics - Staff Specialist - District Wide - Full-time & Part-time Positions Available_

A variety of full-time and part-time Staff Specialist positions have become available across the district for Geriatricians to join our team in the provision of Specialist Aged Care in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region.

This will involve working with other specialists within the Division of Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care to provide consultant level care for inpatients at district hospitals with the support of a dedicated junior staff team, as well as providing consultation services to satellite hospitals, outpatient and community consultations including Aged Care Outreach Service to RACF.


The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Aged Care Service consists of district-wide acute, sub-acute, ambulatory care and community aged care services.

This involves inpatient, outpatient and consultation services as well as the provision of specialist geriatric advice on the management of patients and facilitation of patient to appropriate geriatric services throughout the district.


There is an expectation that these positions will be involved in quality improvement projects and supervision of junior medical officers and medical students.

A current NSW drivers licence is essential as travel between sites is required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  • Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activiti
