Your role:


AV has dedicated Therapeutic Specialists who develop assessments and trauma informed care plans for young people in our Therapeutic Residential Care houses.

This role will see you supporting children and young people in our houses around Bendigo.


Flexibility to work from home, office and engage with the young people face to face at the houses in the region.

The Therapeutic Specialist will work to provide support to the Care Team, Staffing Group and Young People directly, and in collaboration, to address their complex behaviours and areas of developmental needs.


Positions objectives:


  • To provide Residential Care staff and others the ability to provide nurturing, therapeutic, reparative care for the children and young people who present with complex needs and challenging behaviours, using a trauma framework.
  • To provide support, capacity building, resourcing, and coaching to the Residential Care Staff members.
  • To develop comprehensive developmental assessments to identify the supports needed for children who have experienced effects of abuse, trauma, family violence and loss.
  • To share knowledge between internal and external parties so that this knowledge informs the care provided to the children in the Residential Care setting.
  • To lead Therapeutic practice in Residential Care and support delivery into ongoing daily practice.

Who are we looking for:


  • Experience developing intervention plans and mentoring and coaching staff in therapeutic responses.
  • Experience with trauma/mental health of children and young people.
  • Experience providing secondary consults and training for clinical staff working with children and young people experiencing impacts of trauma.

Qualifications:


  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Family Therapy and/or related behavioural sciences degree or Masters.

As a Therapeutic Specialist at AV you'll receive:

  • SCHCADS level 8.3 which equates to $125,061 plus super at 11%.
  • Access to Salary Packaging of up to $15,900.
  • Part time. 30.4 hours, ongoing.
  • Pro rata salary to 4 days.
